Shoppers Find Notes That Read, “I made this item you are going to buy, but I didn’t get paid for it,” Sewn Into Their Zara Clothes
Shoppers at ZARA have found unusual notes in their clothes from workers claiming they haven't been paid.
Tags on clothes at a Zara store in an upscale neighborhood in Istanbul read, "I made this item you are going to buy, but I didn't get paid for it." Ouch.
Workers say they are owed severance and three-months pay from Bravo Tekstil, an apparel factory in the city, which makes clothes for Zara, Mango and Next. According to reports, the facility abruptly shut down in July 2016, when its owner fled overnight with all the factories earnings.
Workers are campaigning vigorously to get the three months of back wages and severance they say they are owed.
Over 20,000 people have signed an online petition named 'Justice For Bravo Workers' demanding the factory workers get paid for their work on the change.org petition supporting the cause.
