A Unique Sneaker Scene is Coming to D.C. this Month
Washingtonians: comfortable, casual, & cool kicks are coming to a shoe store near you this July!
Chicago-based footwear brand Bucketfeet will open its first Washington, D.C. retail studio in Shaw this summer.
Located at 1924 8th Street NW, BF will sell limited-edition slip-on and lace-up sneakers for men, women, and children that feature designs from a network of over 40,000 artists from over 120 different countries worldwide. The Brands concept is simple; each shoe is unique in design through a special print by an artist.
What's even cooler is how the company first got it's start. In 2011, artist Aaron Firestein (co-founder & Chief Artist) sold a pair of hand drawn shoes to traveler Raaja Nemani (co-founder & CEO) when the two crossed paths in Argentina. Nemani's shoes continuously ignited conversations during his travels across 30 different countries which ultimately led him to reach back out to Firestein, the complete stranger who sold him his kicks, with the idea to start the company.
Now, five years later, Bucketfeet receives up to 1,000 artwork submissions each week and has sold shoes in over 15 different countries worldwide.
Prices range from $62-$148. For "shoe game strong", cop a pair of this unique footwear this summer!
