Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

Summer 16' District Dining Guide

Summer 16' District Dining Guide

We ATE at the following EIGHT places in Washington D.C. and thought,"well that was pretty freaking GREAT!"

$$

Really Dukes Grocery is a solid option anytime. The burger will give you a mouthgasm (and I don't even love burgers), they have a cute outdoor patio with picnic tables, serve food late night, and the laid-back atmosphere is just another nice plus.

Try: Proper Burger, Truffle Mac, or Cubano

$$

Like most bottomless booze deals, The Fainting Goat brunch pours are more note-worthy than the brunch food... so if you're looking for a 5-star meal you won't exactly get that here. What you can get is mango mimosas for 2 hours, an awesome ambience, and save on one less Uber ride since you'll already be on U street to go frolic around.

Try: Breakfast Sammy, Goat Cheese Fondue, or Eggs In A Basket

$$

At Ghibellina they keep things real. No fancy pizza cutters - they give you scissors to slice your pie instead. No friends who want to join you for happy hour? That's not a problem either, just sit at the front of the restaurant by the open-air windows and people watch.

Try: Olive E Carciofi, Funghi, or Napoli

$$

If you're a known foodie or someone that's familiar with a particular city, chances are you occasionally get the "where should I go to eat" text from your friends. Whenever I get that text, unless they get really specific with what they want *vegans cough cough* - I'd say Sotto fo sho! Tinder date, birthday party, anniversary - whatever. When you have $$ dinner + strong drinks + live music in a trendy atmosphere...your answer = all of the above!

Try: Sausage Sampler, Brussel Sprouts, Groove Update

$$

Going off the above description of Sotto, if someone were to ask "where to grab a bite to eat outside in dc" my response would definitely be Iron Gate. Why? Two words: Garden. GOALS.

Try: Crispy Pee-Wee Potatoes, Ricotta Pancakes, Spicy Meatballs

$$$

Most people aren't this blunt but let's just say you want to take someone or someones out who you're really trying to impress - in that case The Gibson is your spot. There's an unmarked black door to get inside, a swanky-lax atmosphere, romantic string light patio outback, and cocktails + bites that'll keep you going all night ( no put you to sleep plates here folks. ) So if cool is what you're going for, remember two things: find the front door ahead of time and make an rsvp to look like a pro.

Try: The entire cocktail menu....JKJK

$$

Summer season means we're all second guessing drunk munchies at the moment right? WRONG. Most of us still eat like crap when we're drunk but at least we can all agree on the fact that we're trying to eat "healthier" while we're sober. Chaia makes awesome vegetarian tacos we can't help but taco bout' and trust us when we say meatheads would still approve this pick.

Try: Creamy Kale + Potato, Mushroom

$$

No you can't try Thip Khao on a Tuesday *insert Drake meme here* but Wednesday - Monday this Laotian restaurant surely pops off. Which shouldn't come much as a surprise, anyone that lands on Bon Appétit's annual '50 Best New Restaurants In America' list is most likely super swamped with hungry visitors right now. Foodie tip: Go during lunch hours!

Try: Sun-Dried Beef,  Stuffed Chicken Wings, Avocado Sticky Rice
